World Cup 2022 final between two outstanding teams, Argentina and France, took place on Sunday, 18, December as tension among football fans and lovers reached a boiling point ahead of the highly coveted football tournament in Qatar showdown.
Following Argentina’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over France in the final at Lusail Stadium, officials from FIFA and Budweiser, who collaborated with the tournament announced and recognised some of the top performers throughout the 29-day competition with Golden Boot, Golden Ball, Young Player, Golden Glove and Fair Play awards.
Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Emi Martinez, and Enzo Fernandez all received individual awards following Argentina’s victory in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Messi picked the Golden Ball while Kylian Mbappe walked home with the Golden Boot after Argentina beat France on penalties to win the 2022 World Cup.

Adidas Golden Ball Award – Lionel Messi
After guiding his side to victory, the former Barcelona player received the Golden Ball award for this year’s World Cup’s best player.
Messi increased his tournament goal total to seven with two goals in the grand finals in Doha. After a 3-3 draw in extra time, Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties, with him scoring again in the shootout.

With eight goals, one more than the Argentine captain, Mbappe took home the Golden Boot for the tournament’s top scorer.
After contributing to Croatia’s third-place result, Luka Modric placed third in the voting for the best player.
Adidas Golden Boot Winner – Kylian Mbappe (France)

At the Qatar 2022 World Cup final football game, Mbappe won the FIFA Golden Boot Award. He joined Geoff Hurst as the only other player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final. Overall, the PSG player outscored Messi by a goal on Sunday to win the prize.
Adidas Golden Glove Winner – Emiliano Martinez (Argentina)
Argentina’s victory on Sunday was made possible by Emiliano Martinez’s bravery. Throughout the competition, the Aston Villa goalkeeper was in top form, and in the grand finale against Les Bleus, he demonstrated just how essential he is to the team with a few jaw-dropping saves.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper won the Golden Glove for being the best goalkeeper in the competition after stopping Kingsley Coman’s penalty shootout attempt. Martinez also made an extra-time save in the final to prevent Randal Kolo Muani from scoring.
Prior to that, the goalkeeper saved two penalties in the shootout triumph for the Albiceleste over The Netherlands in the quarterfinal.
FIFA 2022 Young Player Award – Enzo Fernandez (Argentina)

Enzo Fernandez was named Best Young Player on Sunday, December 18. After missing the first two games of the tournament, the 21-year-old Benfica player scored against Mexico in the group stage. The central midfielder who has been phenomenal through out the tournament with his combination of combative and flexible style of play in the midfield for Argentina was named Young Player of the tournament after his terrific performance in the final against France.
Budweiser Player of The Match – Lionel Messi
Messi once more won the award for Player of the Match in the championship game. Messi was named the Budweiser Player of the Match after a masterclass performance from the group stage to the finals against France, scoring two goals in the finals to bring his tournament total to seven. He was also selected as the Budweiser Man of the Match (MOM) five (5) times.

Many people consider him the greatest player of all time because of his unrivalled talent and individual accolades, including winning prestigious awards and now helping Argentina in winning their third World Cup since 1986.
Fair Play Award – England

Three Lions of England won the Fair Play award after wining one match in five games in Qatar. They were crashed out by France after loosing 2-1 to the Les Bleus at the Quarterfinals of the tournament. Tchoumeni scored an early goal but was cancelled by Harry Kane at the second half of the game on 54’min. Olivier Giroud with an header goal on 72’ min of the game closed the dream of England team of lifting World Cup trophy making the final score 2-1.
