Asamoah Gyan started his footballer journey at younger age. He finished primary school in 1999 at Seven Great Princess Academy in Dansoman. He continued his education at Accra Academy Secondary School from 1999 to 2002 after successfully completing his basic education.

He was a former captain of the Black Stars and last played for Legon Cities FC. He represented Ghana at the FIFA World Cups in 2006, 2010, and 2014, earning the nickname “Baby Jet” for his speed on the field.

He became the Ghana Senior National team’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals in 109 international matches. He scored Ghana’s first World Cup goal in 2006 and scored the decisive goal in 2010 to send Ghana to the quarter-finals to become the third African to achieve the record until Morocco broke it at the 2022 World Cup.

On Tuesday, 20th June 2023, Asamoah Gyan officially announced his retirement from professional football during Afremximbank 30th Annual Meeting at the Accra International Conference Centre.
