Balenciaga, a luxury clothing brand has officially ended its relationship with the longtime partner Kanye West, following a recent string of anti-Semitic and racist remarks by rapper.
This follows Kanye West’s combative participation in the podcast Drink Champs, which aired last week and in which he incorrectly claimed that George Floyd was murdered rather than killed by Fentanyl, prompting Balenciaga to distance itself from him. He then made disparaging remarks about the Jewish community.
He also recently participated in White Lives Matter by wearing a designed cloth with the theme “White Lives Matter” at Fashion Week, for which he received harsh criticism and condemnation from Vogue editor Gabriella Fareka-Johnson and other celebrities.

Kanye’s runway appearance during the Balenciaga spring 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week was also reported to have been removed from both the Balenciaga website and Vogue Runway on October 17, 2022.
According to Balenciaga, a section on its website devoted to the three Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collaborations that debuted earlier this year has also been removed. Additionally, other online stores no longer carried such items.
Following its third-quarter earnings report on Thursday, October 20,2022, the fashion label’s parent company Kering said in a statement to WWD, “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship with this artist, nor any plans for future projects.”
West has lost one of his closest and oldest partners in the luxury fashion world with the dissolution of ties with Balenciaga. West’s long-standing relationship with the fashion house’s creative director Demna Gvasalia dates back to around 2014, when Vestments — the label Demna founded with his brother, Guram Gvasalia — made a name for itself in the fashion world.
The Gvaslia brothers advised West on his Yeezy Season 1 line in 2015, and by the end of the year, Demna had been hired to lead Balenciaga.
West and Demna’s relationship grew stronger in 2019. The two texted constantly and eventually resumed collaboration, with Demna serving as creative director on West’s Donda listening parties in 2021.
“With Ye, I have something that I don’t really have with other people, where anything is possible,” Demna said last year to The Times. “Talking with him is like going back in time to when I was eight years old and didn’t have all these barriers and filters.”
Tolu Oniru-Demuren, better known as Toolz, a Nigerian media personality, recently expressed her thoughts on American rapper Kanye West, also known as ye.
Toolz took to her Instagram story to criticize West for his unconventional approach to handling issues. She wrote; “Kanye is an idiot…and almost all yeezys are ugly”.
