Ghanaian Hiphop artiste, Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong popularly known as Black Sherif has received Golden plaque from Boomplay 

The talented artiste, Black Sherif became the first Ghanaian to reach 100 million streams on Boomplay, Africa’s leading music streaming and download platform on June 18, 2022.

Black Sherif, who was recently nominated in the BET Hiphop Wards 2022 category of “Best International Flow,” received many congratulatory messages from his fellow artists, including Shatta Wale and Sarkodie. 

Music fans and fans from all over the world took to social media to congratulate the 19-year-old ambitious artist on his achievement.

He became one of seven top Ghanaian musicians, including Kojo Antwi, D Black, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Mzvee, and Kwesi Arthur, to receive a BET Award nomination. 

Meanwhile Black Sherif, the Kwaku The Traveller hitmaker, has become the first Ghanaian artist to ever receive the Boomplay Golden Club Plaque with 100 million or more streams. 

The digital music platform, Boomplay, took to their verified social media to congratulate Black Sherif on his new record. 

Black Sherif’s mega and international hit song “Kwaku The Traveller,” released on March 31, 2022, became the first Ghanaian song to have 1 million streams on Boomplay on the first day of its release.

The song has charted in both domestic and international markets on digital music platforms such as YouTube, ITunes, Tidal, Boomplay, Spotify, and Audiomack, among others.

According to Boomplay’s end-of-year recap, which highlights stats and insights of music consumption and engagement on the Boomplay platform in 2021, Blacko was the second most streamed artist in Ghana that year. His songs “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon” were the first and second most streamed songs in Ghana in 2021, respectively.

The sensational talent went on to win four awards at the 2022 3Music Awards, which were held in March 2022, including the Boomplay Breakthrough Act of the Year category.

He debuted a spectacular performance of “Kwaku the Traveller” at the same event. The song catapulted him to African popularity, reaching No. 1 on the Boomplay Ghana and Nigeria charts. On Boomplay, it currently has over 57 million streams.
