Ghanaian musician Camido has been nominated for Best New International Act at the 2023 BET Awards.
The Afrobeat singer, known for her hit “Sugar Cane,” has been selected to compete with other artists for the prestigious award.
Since grabbing his nomination, many Ghanaians, including his manager George Britton, have taken to social media to congratulate the singer on his new feat.
“Congratulations to Camidoh n the team for the BET Best New International Act nomination!!!” he wrote on facebook.

He will compete artists from various countries include Nigeria’s Asake UK’s Flo, UK’s Ray, Cameroon’s Libianka, France’s Maureen, Brazil’s McRyan SP, South Africa’s Pabi Cooper and France’s Werenoi.
His nomination places him alongside other talented artists on the international scene. It’s a chance for him to showcase his unique sound and talents to audiences around the world.
The BET Awards recognize and celebrate outstanding talent from around the world, and past Ghanaian winners such as Stonebwoy and Sarkodie have made history in their respective categories.
Stonebwoy won Best International Act in 2015 and Sarkodie won Best International Act Africa at the 2012 BET Awards with Wizkid.
Meanwhile, Camido’s nomination is a testament not only to his talent, but also to the growing influence of Ghanaian music on the global stage.
