Real Madrid defender David Alaba is being racially abused on Instagram by some Madrid fans after he reportedly voted Lionel Messi ahead of Karim Benzema for the FIFA Best Player award in 2022.
The FIFA World Best 2023 Ceremony was held in Paris on Monday, February 27, 2023, and many football players won big that night.
Lionel Messi took home the ultimate prize by winning the “FIFA men’s best player” award after beating out Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.
Other winners included Argentina manager Lionel Scolani, who won the Best Coach award, Emiliano Martinez, who won the Best Goalkeeper award, and Marcin Olesky, who won the “FIFA Puskas” award, among others.

However, Real Madrid fans allegedly racially abused Davido Alaba after he chose Lionel Messi over teammate Karim Benzema as the winner of the “Best FIFA Player” award.
This comes after the defender shared all of his votes on Instagram, with Lionel Messi coming in first, PSG star Kylian Mbappe coming in second, and Karim Benzema coming in third.
It certainly demonstrates his admiration and support for the Argentine star over his teammate Benzema, who did not attend the ceremony that night even though he was also in the pole position to grab the award.
The former Bayern Munich player’s post did not sit well with Real Madrid fans, who felt betrayed and trodden in the post’s comment section, expressing their displeasure with the defender’s choice.
Over 700 comments were recorded on his post as fans used the hashtag #AlabaOut, which trended heavily on social media, to send their racial comments about his post.
All though the post has been pulled down by the former Bayern Munich player who is yet to speak about his trending hash tag #AlabaOut after revealing his top 3 votes for the FIFA Best Award.
