Ghana Amputee football team were crowned winners of the 2021 Amputee African Cup of Nations hosted in Tanzania.

After wining the cup, a video is circulating on online, the captain of the Ghana Amputee team identified as Richard Arthur Openstil was spotted begging President to help them with flight ticket to Ghana.

Ghanaian sports journalist, Saddick Adams, popularly known as “Sports Obama” broke the sad story as he shared a video to narrate how Ghana Amputee National Team Players became stranded following their African tournament in Tanzania.

Accord to him the players were left without a leader to compete in the African Cup Of Nations for Amputees in Tanzania since their leaders were in court arguing over various issues. 

As a result, the players in Turkey were banded together to raise their own participation expenses so that they could compete against other countries for glory, which they did not fail to achieve. 

They were compelled to use social media to draw the President’s attention to the situation, because the team was unable to leave the East African country following their victory due to financial difficulties.

The Black Challengers were fortunate enough to defeat Egypt 3-0 in the quarter-finals, Nigeria 4-0 in the semi-finals, and Angola 3-1 in the final.

Ghana defeated Liberia 3-2 at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium to win the tournament.

Former President of the Republic of Ghana, HE John Dramani Mahama showers praises on Ghana Amputee National Team as he saluted the for emerging Champions of the Amputee African Cup of Nations 2021 which was held in Tanzania.

He said ;

“Congratulations to the Ghana Amputee National Team for winning the 2021 Amputee African Cup of Nations,” he wrote on Facebook.

“I received a notification earlier in the day to make time and watch the finals against Liberia but my activities here in The Gambia did not allow me.

“I am happy to hear of your 3-2 victory against Liberia. The team deserves all the applause for winning the trophy.”
