Legendary Spanish goalkeeper, Iker Casillas Fernández, has spoken out about his sexual preference, confirming in a social media post that he is gay.
On Sunday, October 9, 2022, the Real Madrid and Spanish football legend, who is widely regarded as the greatest goalkeeper of all time, announced the news on his verified Twitter page.
“I hope you respect me: I’m gay. #felizdomingo,” Iker Casillas tweeted as he called on his followers to respect him regardless of his sexual preferences.

Iker Casillas’ former teammate in the Spanish national team Carlos Puyol, also took to social media to express his support in response to the tweet.
“It’s time to tell our story, Iker,” Puyol reacted with love and a kissing emoji.
After receiving a lot of backlash, Iker Casillas Fernández changed his mind and deleted his post, claiming to be one of the guys who are into men, thus Gay making Puyol a sellout.

His former team, Real Madrid, has unfollowed him on Instagram, demonstrating how damaging he has been to the team.
