Kendrick Lamar Bags Six As Black Sherif Loses To Benjamin Epps At The BET Hip Hop Awards 2022 

Black Sherif was up against equally talented acts such as Blxckie from South Africa, Nadia Nakai from Zimbabwe, Benjamin Epps and Le Juiice from France, Central Cee and Knucks from the United Kingdom, Haviah Mighty from Canada, and Tasha and Tracie from Brazil. 

The BET Hip Hop Awards 2022 were held last night in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, and there were a number of notable artists who made their mark and announced the winners of the prestigious awards. 

Kendrick Lamar was the big winner and leader at the 16th annual awards show last night, taking home six awards. 

Nigerian singer Tems also won an award on “Best Song Of The Year” with  “Wait for you,” song which she co-wrote with Future and Drake. 

Black Sherif, Ghana’s highly talented musician who received his first nomination after breaking into the music scene in 2019, lost to French artiste Benjamin Epps in the Best International Flow category.

Black Sherif was up against equally talented acts such as Blxckie from South Africa, Nadia Nakai from Zimbabwe, Benjamin Epps and Le Juiice from France, Central Cee and Knucks from the United Kingdom, Haviah Mighty from Canada, and Tasha and Tracie from Brazil. 

In the end, it was Benjamin Epps who stood tall as the winner of the  Best International Flow category.

In an Instagram post, BET announced Benjamin Epp’s win, saying: “Congratulations to Benjamin Epps on winning the 2022 BET HIP HOP AWARDS BEST INTERNATIONAL FLOW! Please see attached digital assets for your talent and team.”

Meanwhile, The ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ hitmaker is the second Ghanaian act to be nominated for the category after rapper Sarkodie who won in 2019.

The 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards were the 17th edition of the BET Hip Hop Awards, and were held on October 4, 2022. On September 12, 2022, the nominations were announced. 

The event is Hip Hop’s biggest night, with the aim of honoring the year’s best songs and videos, as well as the industry’s biggest hustlers, the most visible hip hop platforms, and the most significant protest recordings. 

BET’s 17th annual ceremony, hosted by GRAMMY-nominated rapper Fat Joe, included some huge victories, heartfelt tributes, and big performances, including a medley of “I Am Hip Hop” award winner Trina’s most well-known singles. 

Despite Drake leading the pack with 14 nominations, Kendrick Lamar brought home six awards at that night
