A Tennessee man has been arrested after his pharmacist wife was found dead in a luxury Fijian resort where they were on honeymoon.

The officials announced the husband’s arrest publicly on July 19.

According to a statement from Fiji’s Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christe Chen, 38, was reportedly murdered by Bradley Dawson, 39, on July 9 at a resort on Yasawa Island.

It wasn’t immediately clear how she died.

The Memphis couple, who wed in February, were residents at the Turtle Island Resort in the Yasawa Islands, which can accommodate 14 couples at once.

When the body of Mr. Dawson’s deceased wife of five months was uncovered, he was “nowhere to be found,” but police quickly located him and put him into arrest.

According to the couple’s neighbors, Mrs. Dawson had expressed excitement just weeks earlier about going on her honeymoon in a tropical location.

The case had been transferred to a High Court in the island’s Lautoka. After Mr. Dawson was charged with one count of murder.

In July 19, he showed up in front of Magistrate Sekonaia Vodokisolomone at the Magistrates’ Court on Lautoka, the second-largest island in Fiji.

The accused committed a “indictable offence,” according to Magistrate Vodokisolomone, and needed to be transferred as a result.

As Mr. Dawson was allegedly recalcitrant and refused to submit to forensic tests when he was arrested, Police Inspector Arvind Kumar also begged the judge to conduct a DNA test.

While the alleged murderer worked as an IT specialist for the charitable organization Youth Villages, Mrs. Dawson was a pharmacist at Kroger.

“Bradley Dawson was an IT professional at Youth Villages. He has been suspended pending further information. It is our understanding Ms Chen was his wife, and our condolences go out to her family,” said Youth Villages in a statement.
