Andre Dede Ayew, captain of the Black Stars, has responded to Ghanaians’ criticism on his brother, Jordan Ayew during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Jordan Ayew is one of the Ghana Blak Stars’ most criticized players. Many Ghanaians believe Jordan Ayew is not physically fit to play for 90 minutes.
Jordan was chastised during his 13-minute appearance on the pitch in last Thursday’s encounter between Ghana and Portugal. Jordan lost possession three times after being substituted to play the final 13 minutes of the game.
Meanwhile, Jordan Ayew puts in an outstanding performance for the Black Stars against Korea, earning plaudits after assisting Salisu Mohammed to score a headed goal for Ghana in the second half.
Even though he is a striker, his defensive mechanism helped the Black Stars contain the pressure from the Koreans in the first 30 minutes of the game.
However, in response to public criticism on his brother, Andre Ayew stated that his brother is good at what he does and that many Ghanaians acknowledge his quality, but they prefer to ignore and focus on his mistakes to criticize him.
“It’s not the first time (that Jordan has played well)… I think he’s just someone that people just want to speak bad about but they in their hearts know the kind of quality that he is” He can play in the premier league for six year I don’t know why ? — He said
Andre Dede Ayew was named Black Stars captain by Kwesi Appiah in 2019, after being authorized by the GFA and the Nomilization Committee (NC). Kwadwo Asamoah was appointed as his Deputy captain in AFCON 2019
Jordan, on the other hand, made his Ghana national team debut in 2010 and has since earned over 80 caps. He has participated in two FIFA World Cups (2014 and 2022)
