Following Raphael Dwamena’s death, netizens have began to share their views, claiming that he, deserves a state burial like late Christian Atsu.
The Ghanaian international, who last played for Albanian club Egnatia, died of a heart attack during the team’s match against Partizani on November 11, 2023.
Many football fans around the world were paralyzed with shock when they heard that he had passed away.
Some of the footage that have leaked online show how the Ghanaian international slumped on the field, causing players, opponents, and match officials to call a halt to the match.
According to reports, Dwamena was told by CAF and FIFA health experts to retire from football between 2019 and 2021 due to his heart issue, but he never heeded the advice.
However, in response to his tragic death, netizens are suggesting Raphael Dwamena’s remains should be transported from Albania to Ghana and given a befitting burial, similar to Atsu, who died under rubble over Turkish earthquake earlier this year.
According to them, he served his country more than Christian Atsu and deserves to be remembered in the same way as the late Newcastle midfielder.
