Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United are currently scouting Dutch and Ghanaian international players Cody Gakpo and Mohammed Kudus with their respective national teams at the ongoing FIFA World in Qatar.
According to voetbal International, who spoke with one of the top transfer journalists Fabrizio Romano to get their take on the rumor, the English Premier League Club has expressed interest in Gakpo and Kudus and is in talks with the forwards representatives following his sensational performance at the 2022 World Cup even though no meeting has been made so far.
According to the report, Liverpool has sent a scout to see Ghanaian and Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus after his spectacular performance gave the Black Stars hope of progressing to the next stage of the competition.
“Liverpool have sent their scouts to PSV games to monitor Gakpo, they did the same with Kudus for example; it’s a normal kind of interest but there is still no meeting scheduled between agents and Liverpool as of today. For sure, with this kind of super performances, interest is growing – and Man United remain in the race,” said Romano, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside via his Substack column.
Gakpo, the PSV Eindhoven forward who had a fantastic season last year and is continuing his form at the World Cup, is also being eyed by Europe’s elite clubs, including Manchester United, who are willing to spend £43 million on the youngster with the January transfer window only a few days after the World Cup ends.
Cody has scored two goals for the Netherlands in their two World Cup group stage matches, effectively snatching a win against Senegal before rifling in a strike to break the deadlock against Ecuador.
Kudus Mohammed, the first Ghanaian player to score a brace in a World Cup game, is likely to play a key role in Ghana’s last group game against Uruguay in order for the country to qualify for the knockout phase.
The Ajax midfielder scored both Ghana’s second and third goal in the 34th and 68th minute before he was substituted.
As a result, several clubs, including Spanish giant Real Madrid, are rumored to be interested in signing Mohammed Kudus, whose stellar performance at the tournament has gotten the world talking about him, increasing his price tag.
