Sinéad O’Connor Husband: How Many Times Did She Married? Meet All Her 4 Hubbies – Sinéad Marie Bernadette was a renowned singer born on December 8, 1966 in Dublin, Ireland and died in July 26, 2023. Explore to know all her four husbands

Who is Sinéad O’Connor?

Her musical journey began with the release of her debut album, “The Lion and the Cobra,” in 1987, which gained international recognition. Her second album, “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got,” received critical acclaim and became a massive success, selling over seven million copies worldwide.

The album’s lead single, “Nothing Compares 2 U,” written by Prince, was honored as the number one world single in 1990 by the Billboard Music Awards.

Over the years, Shuhada’ Sadaqat released ten studio albums, including “Am I Not Your Girl?” and “Universal Mother,” both of which achieved gold status in the UK, as well as “Faith and Courage,” which received gold status in Australia, and “Throw Down Your Arms,” which went gold in Ireland.

Her artistic contributions extended beyond albums, as she also created songs for films, collaborated with various artists, and performed at charity fundraising events. Her memoir, “Rememberings,” published in 2021, became a bestseller.

Throughout her musical career, she fearlessly expressed her spiritual journey, activism, socio-political perspectives, as well as her struggles with trauma and mental health. Sinéad O’Connor was known for her strong stance on issues like child abuse, human rights, anti-racism, organized religion, and women’s rights.

In 1999, she was ordained as a priest by the Latin Tridentine Church, a sect not recognized by the mainstream Catholic Church.

Later, in 2018, she converted to Islam and changed her name to Shuhada’ Sadaqat, while continuing to record and perform under her birth name.

One of the most remarkable moments of her career occurred during her appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 3, 1992. With an a cappella rendition of Bob Marley’s “War,” she intended to protest against the sexual abuse of children in the Catholic Church. She then tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II while singing the word “evil,” directing her message to “fight the real enemy.”

The incident sparked significant controversy, with many expressing criticism, but she stood by her actions as a protest singer with something to express, rather than seeking fame. Catholic-raised host Joe Pesci later showed support by holding up the torn photo and received applause.

Madonna, who appeared on SNL that season, also made a similar gesture but criticized Shuhada’ Sadaqat for her approach, suggesting that there might have been better ways to express her ideas.

O’Connor had a family with some ups and downs, including four marriages and four children. Her first son, Jake, was born in 1987 with her then-husband, music producer John Reynolds, who also co-produced some of her albums. They eventually got married in 1989. Unfortunately, their relationship faced difficulties, leading to an abortion and inspiring O’Connor’s song “My Special Child.”

Following the birth of her daughter Brigidine Roisin Waters in 1996, O’Connor entered into a custody battle with the girl’s father, Irish journalist John Waters. The outcome was an agreement allowing Roisin to live with her father in Dublin. In 2001, O’Connor married British journalist Nick Sommerlad, but their marriage only lasted 11 months. She then had her third child, Shane, in 2004 with musician Donal Lunny, and her fourth child, Yeshua Francis Neil Bonadio, in 2006, with Frank Bonadio.

O’Connor married again in 2010, this time to longtime friend and collaborator Steve Cooney. However, they separated in early 2011. Her fourth marriage was to Irish therapist Barry Herridge, and they tied the knot in Las Vegas in December 2011. Unfortunately, this marriage also ended abruptly after just seven days of living together. Surprisingly, they later reconciled and issued statements about their reunion.

In 2015, O’Connor welcomed her first grandson, born to her son Jake Reynolds and his girlfriend Lia.

On a tragic note, on January 7, 2022, her 17-year-old son Shane was reported missing and, sadly, was later found dead by the police in Bray, County Wicklow. O’Connor mentioned that she had lost custody of Shane back in 2013.
