Since the announcement of the Grammy nominees, there has been speculations as to which artists were nominated or not based on their impact on albums.

Let’s get right to it without wasting any time.

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist , Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has finally responded to legendary Rocky Dawuni over his Grammy nomination controversy.

Rocky Dawuni, who was nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Global Music” category this year, was questioned if Stonebwoy is also a Grammy nominee.

Photo of Rocky Dawuni

The legendary reggae artist stated clearly on Citi Tv on November 27 that featuring on a Grammy-nominated album does not make you a nominee since the Grammy board has guidelines.

“You have contributed to the song, but you are not a nominee. The thing is, I am not the one saying it; you should go to the Academy website and see who are the nominees,” he said” he explained.

“featured on a record is a great achievement but we can’t create our own rules here and be using those rules.” he further claimed,

This statement from Rocky has caught Stonebwoy’s attention, prompted him to respond to the widespread uncertainty around his Grammy nomination.

Stonebwoy took his official Instagram handle to take a subtle dig at Rocky, who was attempting to downplay his impart following his Grammy triumph.

According to the “Putuu” hitmaker , it’s too early for a two-time Grammy nominee, Rocky to discredit him over three nominated albums he featured on .

Ghanaians seeking to travel to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can now do so with ease following the approval of visa free deal between the two countries.

An agreement to offer visa free entry to Ghanaians and UAE passport holders has been approved by Parliament.

The visa waiver agreement, which was contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Ghana and the UAE on mutual exemption of entry visa requirements, is in respect of diplomatic, service/special and ordinary passport holders.

The agreement was executed on November 18, 2019 with the object of waiving the visa requirements for these passport holders in Ghana and the UAE, who can stay for a period not exceeding 90 days.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, presented the MoU to the House on May 26, 2021, which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs for consideration and report in accordance with Order 140(4) and 183 of the Standing Orders of Parliament.

Chairman of the Committee, Bryan Acheampong indicated that during a presentation of their report that Ghana/UAE had had fruitful cooperation, indicating that the two countries were desirous to take the bilateral relations to another level.

According to him, the agreement constitutes a comprehensive framework on visa regimes for both countries and does not impose obligations on the two parties to admit people who are considered to be of questionable character into their territories.

He reported that neither did the MoU impose any financial obligation on the two countries nor provided direct financial gains from its implementation.

The Abetifi MP said the agreement had been fashioned in a way to create a win-win situation for both countries, and added that relaxed visa entry requirement is expected to yield tremendous benefits to citizens of Ghana and UAE through improved relations, trade and bilateral co-operation.

Mr. Acheampong stated that visa waiver arrangements to facilitate the movement of diplomats and government officials are common, except that this one makes ordinary passport holders beneficiaries.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and PRO at Charterhouse said a conversation on when to lift the ban ensued at the board’s inaugural meeting.

“It was in principle decided that the ban should be lifted,” Robert Klah told Andy Dosty, host of the show.

He stated that Charterhouse will make an official announcement after the organisers meet with both artistes and their management teams to sort out outstanding issues.

“There is a reason why this altercation happened and you want to be sure that they don’t resurface. You want to have that kind of conversation to understand and agree on how things should move,” he told the host Andy Dosty.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were banned indefinitely from participating in the VGMAs after an altercation between them marred the 2019 edition.

The former rivals were also stripped of the awards they won on the night and asked to return the plaques they had been given.

Because their altercation had caused panic many people fled the venue thus the organisers failed to announce the Artiste of the Year award, in which both were nominees.

Mr Klah stated that if the official announcement to lift the ban is made before the close of submissions for nominations, the artistes can submit their projects for VGMA nomination in the 2021 edition.

Also musicians who have collaborated with Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy in the year under review can also submit their works.

Artistes, artiste managements, record labels, producers, instrumentalists, music composers and other stakeholders have until February 15, to submit their entries.
