The Ghana Education Services (GES) has reacted to a viral video showing an Adisadel College student assaulting a mate in a dormitory, resulting him with a cheek injury.
The main cause of the unfortunate violence involved the two students engaged in a physical fight, as depicted in the circulating video, was believe to be a disagreement over a mobile phone.
However, after the video went viral on the internet, the GES quickly issued an official statement emphasising its deep concern and commitment to ensuring safe and secure learning environment for students across the country.
The management of the GES strongly condemned such acts of violence in Ghanaian schools and pledged to take appropriate measures to safeguard the well-being of students during their educational journey.

The dissemination of the video has caused significant worry among the school’s alumni association, Santaclausians, raising important questions about safety and discipline within the institution.
Adisadel College’s prompt response to the incident reflects its dedication to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all its students.
In response to the assault, the main perpetrator will take the WASSCE exams at a designated WAEC center, separate from the school campus.
Meanwhile, the victim will be sent home but allowed to return to the school to write the exams under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
It’s worth noting that the victim did not report the incident to school authorities until the video came to the attention of the officials.
The student responsible for filming and circulating the incident will face disciplinary action.
He has been suspended for one week and will serve an additional week of suspension with labor. Furthermore, his mobile phone will be confiscated.

As for the other students present during the altercation who failed to intervene or report the incident, they are facing internal suspension for their inaction.
The housemaster and his assistants have been temporarily suspended pending the outcome of investigations conducted by GES officials.
