On August 30, FC Barcelona Femení began a new Liga F season with a clear, yet no less challenging goal – to win their eighth consecutive league title. The team already has seven straight Spanish league championships, four Women’s Champions League titles, and a historic quadruple from the 2025/26 season.

Still, the team’s current standing is not the result of a single successful year. It is the product of a long journey during which the conditions, attitudes toward women’s football, and perceptions of its potential have all changed.

2025/26: A season of four trophies

The latest season provided yet another and perhaps the strongest confirmation of this triumphant trajectory. On April 22, 2026, FC Barcelona Femení secured their seventh consecutive Liga F title with games to spare, as well as the 11th league championship in their history.

Another European triumph followed on May 23. In the Women’s Champions League final in Oslo, FC Barcelona Femení defeated OL Lyonnes 4-0 to win the competition for the fourth time.

In total, the 2025/26 season brought the Catalans four trophies: the Spanish championship, the Women’s Champions League, the Copa de la Reina, and the Supercopa de España. Polish striker Ewa Pajor became the new face of FC Barcelona, finishing as the competition’s top scorer and earning MVP honors in the European final.

Now the team faces a new challenge – continuing its championship cycle. The Catalans have also demonstrated their ambitions in the transfer market, making the biggest signing in their history this summer: Kerolin Nicoli joined from Man City for €1.5 million.

One team’s story as part of a bigger trend

FC Barcelona Femení’s success comes amid the overall growth of women’s football. The changes are particularly evident in the Women’s Champions League: the tournament’s prize pool grew from €24 million in the 2021/22 season to a projected €37.7 million in 2025/26. The maximum payout for the winner has increased to €1.995 million and could reach €2.8 million from the 2027/28 season.

The audience is growing too. According to official figures, matches in the 2025/26 edition attracted 44.5 million viewers, while broadcasts reached 207 territories. On social media, the tournament’s official accounts generated 947 million video views – 50% more than the previous year.

The story of FC Barcelona Femení illustrates this development in practice. In Catalonia, the team’s success has been accompanied by growing interest in women’s football: the number of registered female players has increased significantly in recent years, while clubs and football organizations are expanding opportunities for girls.

1xBet: Supporting women’s sports as a long-term strategy

In this context, the partnership between 1xBet and FC Barcelona Femení is developing as part of a broader strategy to support women’s sports.

1xBet’s portfolio includes projects across several disciplines: FIBA in women’s basketball, the Billie Jean King Cup in women’s tennis, Volleyball World in women’s volleyball, CAF in women’s international football, and MIBR Female in esports.

New season, new test

Barça Femení begins the campaign as a team tasked with defending its championship status on two fronts – domestically and in Europe. An eighth consecutive Liga F title would be a historic achievement even for a club that has set the standard in women’s football.

For 1xBet and its partners, this is an opportunity to continue following a story that has already grown far beyond a single season or a single team. Whether Barça Femení can once again live up to its status will be revealed in the new football year.
