Alan Kyeremanten Resigns From NPP: In this piece we will explain why Alan Kyerematen left the NPP to contest as independent candidate. So keep exploring.
Alan Kyerematen has officially resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and plans to contest for the presidency as an independent candidate.
His decision to leave the NPP came shortly after he withdrew from the party’s flagbearer race, citing concerns about its fairness.
Why Alan Kyerematen Resigned From NPP?
Kyerematen publicly announced this significant shift in his political career on Monday, September 25, 2023.
This decision followed a period during which the NPP leadership had disputed the idea that why Kyerematen would abandon the party.
“It is abundantly clear to me that my service and contributions to the party are not appreciated and that my continuous stay in the party will create further tensions and divisions,” he said.
Back on August 26, 2023, Alan Kyerematen had denied allegations of an unfair election process during the NPP’s Super Delegates Congress.
The NPP leadership had maintained that they did not show favoritism toward any flag bearer race candidate, contrary to Kyerematen’s claims. They also expressed disappointment with Kyerematen’s withdrawal from the NPP flagbearer race.
During the Super Delegates Congress, Vice President Malamudu Bawumia secured a resounding victory with 629 votes a result that had been widely anticipated.
Kennedy Agyapong, the Memeber of Parliament for Assin Central, secured a second place with 132 votes, whiles Kyerematen trailed behind in the third place with 95 votes falling short of earlier projections.
However, in announcing his resignation from NPP, Alan Cash took to social media and wrote:
“I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate”.
I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate.
Despite not disclosing his new party which he will run as an independent candidate, Alan Cash claimed that, the brand motto of the movement is “Ghana Will Arise Again” high symbolizes hope for the future of Ghana.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a warning letter to United Television (UTV) regarding their popular show, United Showbiz in a letter dated on September 19, 2023.
The letter originating from the Party’s Headquarters, addressed concerns about the recent shift in the content of UTV’s United Showbiz program.
It was stated in the letter that, the show had strayed from its original content and was now featuring material that appeared to serve political interests unrelated to its intended purpose.
Furthermore, the letter emphasised that UTV, which is owned by Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, appeared to be promoting political agendas that suits and favor the opposition party NDC.
In addition, the letter highlighted that, the show had been marred by unnecessary rants and a barrage of insults often resulting in chaos among panelist and insults directed at the presidency.
The NPP clarified that their call for UTV to reform the show was not solely driven by political motives or criticism. Rather it stemmed from their concern about the decline in the quality of public discourse which they found regrettable and unacceptable.
Read NPP’s letter to UTV below;
Reform United Showbiz Program
I trust this message finds you well.
“I have been directed by the lead ship of the New Patriotic Party to draw your attention to some recent observations we have made regarding the prime-time program, United Showbiz.
“Currently, United Showbiz appears to be operating as a platform that serves the interests of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). It is evident to any discerning viewer who has followed the program in recent weeks that its content significantly deviated from its original purpose and relevance.
“The program now frequently features intemperate language, unconstructive rants, and outright insults directed at the presidency by the panelists. Thi has become a recurring pattern that raises the question of whether the show has inadvertently transitioned into a political talk show. If such a transformation is indeed the case, it is imperative to address the imbalance in representation granting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a fair and equitable platform to ensure objectives, fairness and equity.
“In upholding your station’s duty of care towards the public, it is incumbent upon the management to facilitate equal representation rather than turning a bling eye to this issue. A thriving democracy thrives on diverse viewpoints to propose and debate policies. Whiles we, in the NPP, welcome a mature conversation about the economy and its related challenges, we can not condone the erosion of public discourse to such a lamentable level. This is not merely a matter of “politics or criticism.

#Occupyjulorbihouse is a planned demonstration and protest organised by the Accra-based civil society group “Democracy Hub.” They plan to picket the Jubilee House, the seat of government, from Thursday, September 21st to Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.
The protest was held on Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day to urge the President and the Economic Management Team to take measures to address economic mismanagement and corruption inside the government.
Why Are They Protesting?
The group’s objective is to utilise picketing to allow citizens to express their worries about the country’s economic woes and to pressure the government to implement long-term solutions to these problems.
They emphasise the importance of conducting the #Occupyjulorbihouse protest on Nkrumah Memorial Day because it honours “the spirit of resilience and resistance that led the struggle against oppression and dispossession.”
They claim to have joined the demonstration because they feel government policies have forced many trained health professionals out of the country, increasing the citizen-to-health worker ratio.
The Meaning of ‘Julor Bi’
The phrase “Julor Bi” translates to “thief’s child” in Ga. Ga is the dominant ethnic group language in the Greater Accra Region.
This phrase appears to be a subtle jab of the current government led by Nana Add Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which has been accused of corruption by both insiders and opponents.
This wording appeared to irritate some people, notably those in government, with the New Patriotic Party’s communications leader, Eric Ahiagbah, expressing his displeasure with what he saw as an insult to the presidency.
What Happened At The #Occupyjulorbihouse Demo?
Day 1: On the first day of the protest, led by a group of young activists, Ghana police detained 49 protestors demanding action on the ongoing economic crisis and corruption.
Police arrested Occupy Julorbi House Protesters
The illegal arrests of these young protesters garnered widespread condemnation for violating their constitutional right to protest and for the use of excessive force by police.
Other protestors and journalists who gathered, particularly near the Accra Regional Commander’s residence, were subjected to police aggression, including shoving, unlawful detentions, phone confiscation, and, in some cases, physical assault.
What Happened To The Protesters After They Were Arrested?
Due to the illegal nature of their detention, the protestors who were illegally arrested were freed on bail by the end of the day. By properly notifying the Police of their protest, the organisation had followed proper norms and legal procedures.
Day 2: On the second day, September 21st, police released a statement inviting the leaders of the demonstration hub group to meet with them.
According to the police, there was no evidence or documented incidence of assault against the demonstrators, according to their records. They invited anyone with contradictory evidence to provide it for investigation.
The police closed by emphasising their commitment to establishing a democratic atmosphere in which citizens’ rights are respected while national security and stability are maintained.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘Our Leaders Aren’t Patriotic,’ ‘No More Suffering,’ and ‘Thieves in Suits,’ and used chants and nonviolent rallies to express their frustrations and demand to the government.
Meanwhile, barricades were erected along the route leading to Jubilee House by the Ghana Police Service.
CONCLUSION: Since their massive three-day protest across Accra, the civil society group “Democracy Hub” has yet to announce their significant move of taking over the government’s seat at Jubilee House.

Embattled C.E.O of defunct gold-dealership Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1 has issued a statement encouraging customers to purchase a GHS650 Menzgold Digital Verification Access Card in order to verify their transactions before payment.
According to a statement signed by NAM1, this verification card will give “customers who believe they have genuine indebted transactions claims, to check their transaction status.”
Customers of the defunct gold-dealership who wish to claim their transactions are encouraged to upload original coloured soft copies of their transactions supporting documents from 10th August, 2023 to 14th September, 2023.
According to the statement, this has become necessary because “over sixty percent (60%) of claims they have received were fraught with unacceptable infractions which invalidate the claims in question.”
This according to the C.E.O will enable the company to do due diligence of customers they are indebted to before they make any payments.
The statement also sent a word of caution to customers who fail to go through the verification process stating;
“Customers who fail to undergo this process risk forfeiture of their purported claims, as their right of claim would have been waived by the failure on their part to discharge their obligation.”

Menzgold was a company that was previously known as Menzbank, then Menzbanc, and finally Mengold.
The company’s problems began when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered the gold trading company Menzgold Ghana Limited to immediately cease all investment activities due to violations of the Securities Industry Act of 2016. (Act 929).
The SEC order also prohibited Menzgold from soliciting new depositor contracts or advertising their investment company.
According to a letter addressed to Menzgold CEO Nana Appiah Mensah, investigations by the regulator revealed that Menzgold’s business, which involves the purchase/deposit of gold from the public and contracts issued with guaranteed returns with clients, is a capital market activity that cannot be conducted without a valid licence issued by the SEC.
The Menzgold was established in 2014 and was shutdown on September 2018 by the Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company has been crawling since it was halted from operations, leaving customers with a terrible taste in their mouths as they try to recover their investments from the company’s coffers.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has come forward to defend the salary given to Members of Parliament (MPs).
He added that as elected representatives of the public, MPs address a multiplicity of financial needs for their constituents, depleting the entirety of their MP salaries.
The Speaker expressed his surprise at the recurring public opposition and aversion whenever MPs receive an increase in salary or enhancement from the government.
He found it puzzling that folks who seek various financial support from MPs would become enraged once these same MPs’ wages increased.
He emphasised that the significant financial constraints connected with serving as citizens’ elected representatives highlight the need for remuneration that are commensurate with their economic responsibilities.
According to him, MPs warrant more substantial remuneration.
Alban Bagbin made this claim while speaking at a Press Soirée in Takoradi to commemorate 30 years of uninterrupted Parliamentary Democracy in Ghana.
“Whatever is given to the one you struggled to elect (MP) you are opposed to it. Even though every day you knock at his door to request money to pay school fees and hospital bills, to donate to churches, festivals and funerals, you hate to hear that his salary is being increased. There must be a problem!” Alban Bagbin lamented.
News about MPs’ salaries, particularly the distribution of ex gratia payments, usually elicits great public resentment.
Nonetheless, MPs have long argued that their labour and the financial strain it entails merit higher compensation.
