Prophet Nicolas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has made a bold statement, declaring that any pastor who claims to collect offerings on behalf of God is a liar. According to him, the offerings are used for personal purposes, not for divine reasons.
Speaking on Accra-based DLFM 106.9, Kumchacha admits that pastors, including himself, use the money collected from offerings to meet their personal needs, such as gaining strength to preach and fueling their cars.
He emphasizes that it is not a sin to collect offerings, but it should not be compulsory for church members to contribute during services.
The founder of Heaven Gate Ministries criticized the common belief that offering money goes directly to God, stating that pastors who promote this notion are not adhering to true Christian principles.
In reaffirming his stance, Kumchacha referenced biblical teachings on tithes, as he explained that it is also not mandatory.
He condemned pastors who pressure their congregants to pay tithes as if they are in debt.
Kumchacha further shared that pastors often receive gifts, including money, cars, and buildings, from individuals who are not even members of their churches.
“Any pastor who claims to take offerings for God is not being truthful. We spend the money ourselves,” Kumchacha asserts during the interview.
