Christian Tetteh Yohuno, born on Decenber 27, 1966, is Ghana’s IGP and crime-fighting veteran. Yohunu’s career began at a young age, when he joined the police force after completing Senior High School (SHS). 

IGP Yohuno’s reputation as an exceptional officer was well-known in Ghana during his tenure as COP. 

Yohunu has been described as one of the “biggest officers to fight crime” to ever have a master code for criminals due to his passion and dedication to the police service.

IGP Yohuno’s career has been marked by a series of significant appointments and promotions that highlight his capability and determination:

He served as the Divisional Commander for Accra Central and later as the Accra Regional Operations Commander from November 2007 to May 2009. 

For his meritorious service in combating armed robbery and other criminal activities, he was awarded the Grand Medal in November 2011.

His exceptional service earned him a promotion to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) in January 2012.

IGP Yohunu also served was the Deputy Accra Regional Commander for two years where he played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the region.

In 2015, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD), further showcasing his versatility and leadership in various facets of law enforcement.

His career progression continued in January 2016 as he was promoted to Commissioner of Police (COP) and took on roles as Director-General in charge of Special Duties and Director-General Administration.

On July 17, 2024, Yohunu was appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police by former President Nana Akufo Addo which undoubtedly became one notable achievement in his illustrious career.

IGP Yohuno’s academic journey began at Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, where he obtained his WASSCE certificate. 

He then pursued a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana, followed by an Executive MBA in Project Management from the Institute of Professional Studies (now UPSA).
