Ghana’s Black Stars will be confident heading into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after beating Switzerland 2-0 in Abu Dhabi, thanks to goals from Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo.
Salisu and Semenyo joined the Black Stars this year after the four-time African champions qualified for the World Cup, but they were both named to the 26-man team on Thursday and proved their inclusion was well-deserved.
Salisu scored in the 70th minute, and Semenyo volleyed home from close range four minutes later to seal a morale-boosting victory for the Black Stars as they prepare for the World Cup, which begins this weekend.
Zigi, Tariq, Baba, Daniel Amartey, Salisu Mohammed, Salis, Owusu, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Inki Williams, and Barnieh are among the other players who started the first eleven against Switzerland.
This is the penultimate match played before the World Cup, and it will boost their confidence, even if the match cannot determine whether the Black Stars are matching the standard of demolishing its opponents in Group H, which includes Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
