Ghana head coach Otto Addo has demanded that, the Black Stars must ‘play intelligent footbal’ at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Addo has announced his 26-man squad for the 22nd edition of the Mundial, which will be held in Qatar.

The Black Stars begin their campaign on November 24 against Portugal, followed by a match against South Korea on November 28 and a replay of the 2010 quarter-finals against Uruguay on December 2.

In an interview with FIFA, Otto Addo noted that the Black Stars are in a dangerous group of the competition and might win or lose all of their matches.

According to him, the Ghana squad would not advance to the next round of the competition until they give it their all and play top-flight football in their first encounter with Portugal.

” We’re going up against three strong opponents and we could lose all three games or win all three “ – Otto Addo told FIFA in an interview

” It’s up to us and how we adapt to their playing class, how we stop them, how we work together as a team. We need to play intelligent football, exploit our opponents’ weaknesses and bring our own strengths to the fore “.

This is Ghana’s fourth World Cup appearance. They previously made it out of the group twice, and both times they won their opening game. They failed to advance from their group the only time they lost their first match, and Addo has described the Portugal clash as crucial

” Every single game is different and the first match will be decisive,” he added.

” The subsequent games depend on the first one. If we lose, we need to be more attacking in the second match, but if not we can set ourselves up differently. It also depends on how Uruguay and Korea Republic play against each other. In the end, it’s about mentality.”

The Black Stars are currently in camp in Abu Dhabi, with 23 players having reported. The only players who have yet to report are Kamaldeen Sulemana, Joseph Aidoo, and Alexander Djiku.

The Black Stars will hold their last training on Tuesday evening before facing Switzerland on Thursday morning.

In related news, controversial presenter Countryman Songo has slammed Otto Addo following his selection of players to the World Cup.

Countryman Songo expressed his displeasure with Addo on his popular show “Fire For For” on Angel Tv, claiming that he is not qualified to bring Ghana to the World Cup because he is not a coach.

According to him, the Black Stars squad does not meet the tournament’s standards, and they will lose all of their group matches against Portugal, Korea, and Uruguay.
