The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku have sustained injuries and will return to their respective clubs for further medical attention.
Jordan Ayew, who recently underwent an MRI scan, has been diagnosed with a significant knee issue, while no further details have been provided regarding Fatawu Issahaku’s condition, according to the association.
Both players have been ruled out of Ghana’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Niger.
Ayew, who recently scored a stunning free kick against Angola, was one of the standout performers for the Black Stars.
However, despite his efforts, Ghana failed to secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
Similarly, Fatawu had an impressive showing on the left flank in the same match but was substituted in the first half due to injury and will be unavailable for the Niger game.
The Black Stars’ injury woes extend beyond Ayew and Fatawu, with Gideon Mensah and Alidu Seidu also sidelined ahead of the Niger clash.
Their absence has forced the coaching staff to make significant adjustments to the squad.

However, the GFA has called up three locally-based talents: Kamaradini Mamudu from Medeama SC, Ebenezer Abban from Heart of Lions, and Jerry Afriyie from Thought FC to fill the gaps left by these key players.
These players are expected to step up and prove themselves on the big stage as Ghana faces Niger on November 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium
