Caden Tellier’s death new has saddened the school football community across the country. The Alabama high school player died at the age of 16 after suffering a head injury during a game on Friday, August 23, 2024, according to CBS News.
Caden Tellier, a Morgan Academy student, died unexpectedly following a strong tackle on him during the school’s game versus Southern Academy in Selma on Friday night in the third quarter.
The school’s headmaster, Dr. Bryan Oliver who revealed the Tellier’s cause of death told CBS News that efforts were made to save the teen’s life quickly after the incident.
He was sent to the University of Bellingham Hospital for treatment, but Tellier did not survive.
Caden Tellier’s family announced his death on social media, making the boy’s obituary public.
They addressed his background, noting that he came from a devout Christian home, which contributed to his charity and love of his demeanour throughout his life.
Despite not announcing Tellier’s burial and funeral arrangements, the family thanked loved ones for their prayers throughout their cherished son’s difficult time.
“Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face. We appreciate all of your prayers, and we covet them for the hard days ahead,”Everyone who knows Caden has known kindness, generosity and love, and true to his nature, he is giving of himself one more time. Lives have been touched by the way he lived and now lives will be saved through his passing.”
In a Facebook post, Alabama School administrators extended their sympathy to the grief family, friends and loved ones.
They praised Caden as a remarkable student who is incredibly fortunate to be a part of the Morgan Academy, demonstrating how much this means to them despite passing.
“There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family,” the statement said. “Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy.”
Oliver also made it known that, “the school is canceling all sports activities for the coming week, including this Friday’s scheduled football game at Wilcos Academy.”
