The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the management committee of the senior national team (Black Stars) following the teams’ shambolic performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the GFA’s website issued a statement announcing the dissolution of its management, which included Chairman Mark Addo, Stephen Appiah, Kwasi Agyemang, Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd.), and Alhaji Karim Grusah.
In the statement revealing the committee’s release, the GFA claims to be looking for ways to save the Black Stars from further disgrace after the team’s AFCON qualifiers disappointment.
The GFA expressed gratitude to the laid-off committee for their work and wished them the best in their future endeavors.
“The Executive Council, at its meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, made the following key decisions: Immediate dissolution of the Management Committee of the senior national football team, the Black Stars.
“In doing so, we sincerely thank the members of the Committee for their service to Ghana Football over the years,” the GFA said in the statement shared on ghanafa.org.
This decision comes after Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points, recording three losses and three draws in six matches played in the AFCON qualifiers.
As the time of reporting this news, Ghana Football Association has not appointed any Black Stars management team as they are currently looking forward to restructure and help the squad come back to their glory days.
In Group F, Angola and Sudan qualified, while Ghana and Niger failed to progress to the main competition.
This marks the first time in 21 years that Ghana has failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
