Ghanaian middleweight boxer Ernest “Bahubali” Akushey has died at age 32, just two weeks after sustaining severe injuries in a fight against Jacob “The Beast” Dickson at the Bukom Boxing Arena. He passed away on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025, following complications from the brutal bout.
The bout, which took place on September 16, saw Bahubali receive powerful punches in his face and midsection, ultimately leading to his defeat in the final round.
Before his death, Bahubali, who had a 6-0-0 record, headlined “Power of Fists,” the national middleweight title hosted by legendary boxer Ayitey Powers Promotions.
He also battled Soldier Boxer at the Bel 7 Star Boxing League’s inaugural event at Bukom Arena, despite the fact that their first bout was called a no contest.
Following his passing, the Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) took to social media to expressed their condolences to the Family of Baubali following his passing.

Bahubali was a Ghanaian middleweight professional boxer best-known for his fighting abilities in the ring. He was 32 years old and was born in Chorkor, a suburb in the Accra region.
During his time, Bahubali was best known for being a crowd favourite in his local and the boxing community in Ghana.
He participated in numerous events including Super Middleweight and the Light Heavyweight class.
