Former Ghanaian footballer Prince Tagoe has opened out about his contribution in the success of many Ghanaian musicians, particularly Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy.
In a recent interview, the Prince Tagoe revealed the support he provided to Stonebwoy after parting ways with High Grade Family music label in 2012 where he recorded his first single “Claimax”
When asked about his involvement, Tagoe revealed that he offered Stonebwoy his own car to help him navigate his early solo career.
He emphasised how he introduced Stonebwoy to key personalities like as Togolese ex-player Emmanuel Adebayor and others to help him boost his musical career during his critical transition moment.
According to Tagoe, he had actually aided musical group Praye and Shatta Wale by assisting them in carrying out their goals whenever they released a project.
He recounted how he had a huge impact on Praye’s career in terms of promotion and distribution through his Goals Multimedia Record Label after the group released their debut album, “Roll Koll,” in 2008.
Tagoe claims that he fell out with Praye after the group appointed Kiki Banson as their new manager, but he didn’t actually follow through on their actions.
Speaking about his support for Shatta Wale, the 37-year-old ex-Hoffenheim player says he was ready to see the dancehall musician win the then-VGMA AOTY in 2015 but backed out because he didn’t want to participate in the ceremony.
However, Prince Tagoe expressed his disappointment by revealing the current state of his relationship with Stonebwoy, despite praising the singer with his unique talent.
The former Black Stars striker adds that Stonebwoy has unfollowed him on Instagram, a move that has left him the “Over Lord” crooner exhibiting a sign of “ungrateful”.
“I helped Stonebwoy after he left Highgrade, giving him my cars to use them because he was talented and I truly wanted him to succeed. I connected him with Adebayor and even supported him by bringing him cake for his birthday celebration in East Legon, but he now unfollows me on Instagram.
“I don’t know why he did that but maybe he has his own reason for doing that and i must respect his decision for doing that” — he told presenter Nana Romeo on AccraFM.
