Inaki Williams was named the man of the match for his superb performance in Athletic Bilbao’s 2-1 La Liga victory over Espanyol on Saturday afternoon at the RCDE Stadium.
Athletic Bilbao struggled early on. After a beautiful long pass from Dani Garca, Laki Williams sent the ball into Pacheco’s goal in minute 22.
The Black Stars striker dedicated his goal to his brother Nico by hugging him.
Athletic was considerably superior and had a comfortable lead, but a mistake at the back a few minutes before halftime allowed former Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite to score, but his goal was ruled off by VAR.
Athletic tried to score a set piece in the second half; Guruzeta almost scored in the 57th minute with a good movement, and Inaki had a clean chance to score but his shot went wide in the 68th minute.
Nico Williams entered the game in the 69th minute and scored in the 75th minute off a Gorka Guruzeta feed to make it 2-0.
