Born on 15 June 1994, Bilbao, Spain to Ghanaian parents, Inaki Williams later switched his allegiance for Ghana, made his full debut for Spain in 2016 and was invited to the World Cup.

He was discovered playing youth football for CD Pamplona, by Athletic Bilbao where he was taken to Lezama at the age of 18 into the club’s youth team.

In January 2016, despite offers from top clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and others as well, Williams extended his contract until 2021, and in January 2018 his contract was extended until 2025.

He agreed and strengthened deeper his bond with Athletic Bilbao. Williams has proved a great goalscorer in his career where moments of note include the two he scored as Athletic won away to Sevilla by a scoreline of 0-2 in January 2019.

The goal was so impressive that it later won the Golden Goal of the season awarded by Marca. In August 2019, he signed a nine-year contract with his release clause fixed at 135 million euros.

Williams continued to shine, setting an incredible six-year streak in which he never missed a league game.

However, it came to an end on January 29, 2023 through a goal drought when he was left out of the squad  against Celta.

Internationally, Williams first received a call-up to the Spain Under-21 team in March 2015 before debuting for the senior side in May 2016. In as much as he was scouted by Ghana, he chose Spain initially.

However, come July 2022, Williams announced to play for the Ghanaian national team enabling him to contest inside the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the name “Kweku” adopted within the team as per the Ghanan custom of his date of birth.

Inaki Williams played for the Ghana Black Stars in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). He appeared in three matches until the team was eliminated from the competition at the Group Stage, along with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
