Manchester City footballer, Jeremy Doku has visited Ghana, an African country located in the Western part of continent for the first time after so many years.
The Belgian international Jeremy Doku landed in Accra on Friday night, July 2025, to kick off a special visit focused on charity.
During his stay, Doku will take part in various philanthropic activities, aiming to give back to local communities through donations and social impact events.
He was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport with Ghanaian representatives who were eager to see the winger in the country.
The 21-year-old was seen surrounded by a crowd at the airport, dancing to the rhythm of a cultural group band and spraying cash on traditional dancers.
Despite choosing to represent Belgium over Ghana, speedy has a lot of admiration for the West African country.
His arrival follows a January interview with Premier League TV in which the former Rennes player revealed his nationality, claiming to be Ghanaian despite playing for the Belgian national side.
He claims to be in Ghana for once despite born to Ghanaian parents in Borgerhout, Belgium before moving to League 1 side Stade Rennes.
Doku reaffirmed his stance by speaking in his mother tongue, Twi, an official language of Ghana, and stating that he will return to the country.
“Yeah. Of course I’m Ghanaian. My parents are also Ghanaians. I also speak Twi which is the language of Ghana. So I have to go back again because it’s (been) a long time ago.”
Doku also revealed his admiration for Ghanaian culture and music as he emphases that coming back to his root is horizon.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Doku who joined Manchester City in 2023 played 29 matches in the 2024/2025 season, scoring only three goals and assisting six times, helping the team finish second behind Liverpool, who won the title.
