Luis Suarez burst into tears on the sidelines after hearing of South Korea’s last-gasp goal against Portugal. 

Uruguay defeated Ghana 2-0 in their final group stage match, appearing to have secured their place in the World Cup last 16. 

In the second Group H match, Hwang Hee-chan scored a 91st-minute winner against Portugal to eliminate Uruguay to the last 16. 

Suarez was overcome by South Korea’s goal, causing him to cry and pull his match shirt over his head in emotional scenes.

The former Liverpool striker can be seen crying on the bench during what could be his final World Cup appearance.

Uruguay has been eliminated from the World Cup, with Portugal moving to the next round as group winners, and South Korea also advancing as runners-up. 

Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored both goals for Uruguay in their 2-0 win over Ghana, while South Korea defeated Portugal after coming from behind.

Ricardo Horta scored in the fifth minute after Kim Young-gwon had cancelled out his earlier strike.

Wolves striker Hwang then popped up in stoppage time to grab his side’s winner to claim their spot in the last 16.
