Former Ghanaian footballer, sports journalist and commentator, Joyce Annor Yeboah also known as Empress Efya has joined Juventus Academy Ghana.
On Thursday, February 15, she joyfully posted the good news on her X platform, formerly known as Twitter, revealing that she had joined the Italian club’s Academy side as a coach.
Joyce posted pictures of her ceremonial unveiling at Juventus’ training facility in Italy, where she was accompanied by former Black Stars player Kwadwo Asamoah.
In the post, she described how she went from playing football to studying coaching for five years.
Joyce expressed gratitude for Kwadwo Asamoah’s support, citing her new role at the renowned Italian powerhouse.

Joyce began her career as a footballer but later transitioned to football commentary at an early age. She overcame the barriers of being a female sports commentator in a male-dominated field and triumphed despite the obstacles.
Determine Joyce furthered her career as a sports commentator while also continued her education at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
The Ashanti-born ex-footballer found solace and joy in her transition to football commentary, learning the art of rapid speaking and programme presentation to fit radio stations’ limited time slots.

Her exit from football was prompted by a terrible illness in August 2015 that almost claimed her life.
Despite being unable to determine the specific form of the illness, Joyce embraced her oratory abilities and began a new career as a football commentator.
In an interview, she expressed her amazement at realising the potential of her speaking abilities, emphasising the life-changing moment that altered her career.
“Doctors declared that I would not survive but it was by the grace of God that I am still alive,” she said—as quoted by Pulse Ghana
She, however, regained her health after staying home for a year and this was the start of her career in sports commentary.
Joyce’s determination and enthusiasm shine through as she continues to make an impact in the world of sports commentary.
