Kylie Mbappe has been officially announced as a Real Madrid player following his stunning transfer from Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Real Madrid officials unveils the French forward to nearly 80,000 fans at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
During the presentation, Mbappe describes his move to European Champions as a ‘dream fulfilled’ after seeing a 13-year-old photo of himself alongside famous Zinedine Zidane at the Valdebebas training complex.
He even kissed Real Madrid’s crest, signifying his happiness at joining one of the world’s most successful clubs.
Despite taking a different path from AS Mona to PSG, he is now a part of Madrid’s record book. Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid was tricky after he rejected lucrative offers from the club during his two-year stint in Paris.
This summer, Mbappe’s decision not to renew his contract with PSG sparked speculation that he might join a Spanish team, and he later departed PSG as a free agent when the French club failed to win the Champions League.
Despite PSG’s optimism that he would sign a new contract, the 23-year-old player’s mood changed and he signed for Madrid to wear the historic No.9 jersey.
Real Madrid announcing the signing and presentation of Mbappe on Tuesday was delayed due to the summer, as fans continued to flock to the stadium to see him unveiled.
“It is incredible to be here,” the Frenchman said. “I have dreamed of playing for Real Madrid for years. My dream is fulfilled today. I am a particularly happy young man,” he stated.
Mbappé was presented to the spectators by Real Madrid president, Fiorentino Perez.
“I want to thank Florentino Perez, who warmly welcomed me from the first day.
“There have been lots of twists but I’m here. I also want to thank everyone who worked for me to come here. We did it – I’m a Real Madrid player,” he announced.
He will wear the number 9 shirt previously worn by his Le Bleu teammate, Karim Benzema.
With this Real Madrid new signing, Mbappe will join the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius, who is gearing up to play the first Classico friendly match against Barcelona on August 3, 2024.
