Ademola Lookman, a Nigerian footballer, has been named 2024 CAF African Player of the Year.
The ceremony, held on Monday, December 16 at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, saw the Atlanta winger win the prestigious prise after defeating Simon Adingra, Achraf Hakimi, and others.
Serhou Guirassy and Ronwen Williams were two of the other players announced and nominated.
Lookman had a fantastic season, being one of the key players who performed at a high level for both club and country.

He was voted Atlanta’s best player after helping the Italian team in winning the Europa League.
Nonetheless, his hat-trick in the Europa League final against Leverkusen helped Atlanta win their first European trophy in 62 years.
Ademola Lookman scored 18 goals in Serie A last season and has continued his good form with 16 goals this season.
Lookman played for Nigeria in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), helping the nation advance to the tournament’s final stage.

The former Leipzig player scored twice in the round of 16 and quarterfinals before the squad lost to host Côte d’Ivoire.
Lookman joined Atlanta on a four-year contract in August 2022, for a reported €15 million transfer fee, after leaving Leipzig.
Lookman is the second straight Nigerian player to win African Player of the Year, after Victor Osimhen, who won in 2023.
