Emmanuel France, whose real name is Ampem Nii Darku France, was a Ghanaian born in 1941 in Nigeria, Kano No.32 France Road after his family migrated there.
His grandfather was Kano’s first Sarkin Sabongari, as well as the state’s first black magistrate and district officer.
France attended his primary school at St. Thomas Catholic School, graduated from African Church Grammar School, and went on to Hussey College in 1965.
After finishing his schooling, France relocated to Jos state due to the Jano violence, but the crisis became more severe, leaving for Ghana to survive.
During his thirteen-year stay in Ghana, the famed actor attended journalism school. In 1967, he wrote his first script, “Mission of John the Baptist,” for the Catholic church.
