The Ghana Police Service has officially declared Bishop Salifu Amoako a prime suspect in connection with the tragic car accident in East Legon that claimed the lives of two young women.
The accident, which occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, involved his son, Erald Elisha Amoako, and has since sparked widespread controversy and public concern.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 14, 2024, the police confirmed the launch of an investigation into the fatal incident.
The statement indicates that Bishop Salifu Amoako himself is now considered the driver responsible for the crash, contradicting earlier reports that his son, Erald, was behind the wheel, as earlier reported by hellovybes.com
The statement from the police reads:
“Preliminary investigations indicate that Salifu Amoako was driving the vehicle that crashed into another on Dzanie Ashie Street in East Legon. Both vehicles caught fire and were completely destroyed.”
It was further noted that “the suspect [Salifu Amoako] and other surviving victims are currently receiving medical attention.”

Additionally, the statement mentioned that “one of the surviving victims has since been treated and discharged, while the bodies of the deceased victims have been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.”
Initial reports, backed by CCTV footage circulating online, had suggested that over-speeding by Erald Elisha Amoako was the primary cause of the accident.
Erald, reportedly driving recklessly, collided with the victims’ car, resulting in both vehicles catching fire. The accident followed the 25th birthday celebration of Erald’s brother, Eylon Amoako, at East Legon.
However, the police statement identifying Bishop Salifu Amoako as the prime suspect has left many Ghanaians puzzled, given the initial belief that Erald was driving at the time of the accident.
The public is now questioning the sudden shift in the narrative and awaits further clarification from the ongoing investigation.
