Shatta Wale is saying that Sarkodie should’ve been bigger than Wizkid claiming he didn’t take an Advantage of the opportunity he had with Akon
Reggae-Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale has said that rapper Sarkodie could have been bigger than Wizkid and any other African artist if he had signed to Akon’s Konvict record label.
We can recall that Akon revealed in an interview with Kaly Jay Space on Twitter that his plans to sign Sarkodie were to make him a global artist, but the rapper was more focused on the Ghana side.
He explained that while King Sark was the first artist signed to the label, his main focus was on Ghana, specifically Africa.

However, Shatta Wale stated in an interview with Joynews presenter George that if Sarkodie had the opportunity to be signed to Akon’s Konvict Muzik record label and did not sign, he truly lost it.
According to Shatta Wale, the African dancehall king, Sarkodie should’ve been bigger than Wizkid because he didn’t take advantage of the opportunity he had with Akon.
The “Gringo” hitmaker went further and explained that, Sarkodie has been working solely for himself, putting more into his craft to get where he is today, but if he had allowed Akon to sign him, he would have been bigger than Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
Sarkodie should have been bigger than Wizkid. I always see him putting a lot of effort into his craft in terms of videos and everything to get it just right but he is still not there”
He is doing it on his own and with his own money. Even if I look up to him and still he is not at the level of Wizkid, then I can boldly say he didn’t take advantage especially when Akon came out to say that” — Shatta Wale concluded
