Twene Jonas, a Ghanaian social media commentator based in the U.S., was nearly arrested by American police officers while livestreaming on Facebook in a U.S. street.
The incident happened when police approached Jonas after noticing their car parked on the street.
During the interaction, officers questioned him about his presence in the Church area as to which he replied that he was live-streaming with his followers on Facebook and Instagram.

Jonas assured the officers that he had no intention of disturbing public peace.
Initially, he appeared concerned, wondering if someone had reported him to the police, given the way they surrounded him.
However, the officers stated that they were conducting a routine patrol.
The influencer later speculated that his frequent criticisms on Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo could have led to the encounter, suggesting it might be an attempt to silence him.
Jonas also suggested that the officers’ initial approach getting out of their vehicles and addressing him may have triggered his loud voice during the livestream, possibly drawing their attention.
