Celebrated dancehall artist Vybz Kartel is set to host his first concert since his release from prison on July 31st.
In a recent podcast interview the “Summer Time” hitmaker reveals that despite his battle with Graves’ disease, he plans to hold several live performances, starting in December 2024.
Vybz Kartel shared that his first live performance will take place in his homeland, Jamaica.
Following that, he plans to perform in Trinidad and the Bahamas, with ongoing negotiations for additional shows in other Caribbean islands.
“Jamaica will be the venue for the first show, followed by Trinidad and the Bahamas, with negotiations ongoing for other island stops. We will be spinning more like tornados,” Kartel told the show’s host.
According to him, he is anticipating a massive turnout, expecting over 100,000 fans inside the venue with an equally huge number outside hoping to attend.
He also mentioned that popular artists Spice and Skillibeng are among the performers slated to join him on stage at this highly anticipated concert, although the venue is yet to be confirmed.
This will be Vybz Kartel’s first live performance since his last appearance was at the Sandbox Great fete Tobago in 2011, shortly before his arrest.
Prior to his incarceration, Kartel faced multiple bans from various countries, with government officials in 2010 canceling several of his advertised concerts due to concerns over his influence on fans of the Gaza and Gully factions.
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was convicted of murder in 2014 for the death of Clive “Lizard” Williams, leading to his imprisonment.
Fans after Kartel’s announcement are eagerly awaiting his return to the stage and the impact and influence he will have on the dancehall fraternity.
