Yunus Musah, who was born on November 29 in New York City, is best known for his technical abilities, movement, and strength in the midfield. He began his career journey at a young age when his family relocated to Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, where he joined Giorgione Calcio 2000. Yunus Musah moved to England in 2012, at the age of nine, and began playing at Arsenal Academy. He spent seven years in Arsenal’s youth system before joining Valencia’s youth system in 2019.

Musah made his Segunda Division B debut against CF Nucia when he was 16 years old. With the arrival of new manager Javi Garcia, Musah was able to develop his talents and make his La Liga debut against Levante at the age of 17. He scored his first goal as a professional player for Valencia at the age of 18, becoming the team’s second youngest non-Spanish player after Lee Kang.

Yunus, who progressed through the ranks of the England young team from under-15 to under-18, was eligible to play for Ghana and Italy before switching nations to play for the United States in 2020. Musah made his senior international debut on November 11 in a 0-0 draw against Wales at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.

Despite Musah’s senior level experience with the US, England senior manager Gareth Southgate attempted to urge Musah to play for England, stating: “We’re monitoring him. He’s been with us in the last couple of months and we’d very much like his future to be with us (as quoted by CBSSports).

Musah was named US Soccer’s Young Male Athlete of the Year in 2022 after helping the team win the CONCACAF Nations League and making the final Best XI following the 2022-2023 campaign season. He was also a member of the winning team in the 2019-2020 season.

With his exceptional talent displayed at the 2022 World Cups with the USA and having an excellent season with Valencia, many elite teams with the likes of Ac Milan have showed strong interest in Musah and was reportedly to  sign him once the Italian powerhouse officially submitted their bid to Valencia.

On August 4, 2023 Musah put pen to paper and officially joined Serie A club, Ac Milan for a total €18 million ($19.8 million) plus an extra €2 million ($2.2 million) in bonuses. 

He even decided to wear the number 80 jersey a nod to the legendary Ronaldinho.

Musah made his debut in the UEFA Champions League for AC Milan coming on as a substitute in the 72nd minute during the team’s match against Newcastle United on September 19.

He was already building a name for himself at the age of 20. And, in a memorable Milan victory over Genoa on October 7, he demonstrated his playmaking abilities by setting up Christian Pulisic with a well-timed pass.
