Former England and Manchester United star has been declared bankrupt years after his wife divorced him
Mirror.co.uk reports that, HMRC filed a bankruptcy petition against the defender, who earned £50,000 per week at Red Devils, on February 27, 2023.
The High Court issued a statement on April 12 that was rubber stamped, and the order was published in the Gazette this week.

Wes Brown joined Manchester United as an academy player and made his senior club debut in 1998.
The 43-year-old played in over 200 matches for the club, winning the Champions League twice as well as five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and two League Cups.
He also won 23 England caps and, after leaving the Red Devils in 2011, went on to play in India for Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, and Kerala Blasters before retiring in 2018.
He was the last player of Manchester United’s 1999 Treble-winning squad still playing professionally at the time.
Brown, who was born in Manchester, was the team’s youngest player when they defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 in Barcelona to win the Champions League and complete the triple.
He divorced his wife Leanne, 46, who appeared on the reality TV show Real Housewives of Cheshire, last year.
The couple, who have three children, married in a lavish ceremony in 2009.
