Member of Parliament for Effia, Lawyer Isaac Boamah Nyarko, has announced plans to fence the Effia Kuma Police Park within the next two weeks as part of efforts to improve the facility and its surroundings.
The Effia MP disclosed the plan on August 22, 2026, during an engagement with party members and executives held at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Auditorium.
According to Lawyer Boamah Nyarko, discussions with the contractor for the project have already been concluded, paving the way for work to begin shortly.
The legal practitioner also stated that the fencing work will be completed within one to two months, in September or October, as it is already in the pipeline.
Explaining the decision to undertake the project, Lawyer Boamah Nyarko said the people of Effia deserve a well-maintained and secure recreational facility.
He indicated that his commitment goes beyond what many constituents may expect, particularly given the condition of the area surrounding the park since the construction of the AstroTurf.
The proposed fencing is expected to help improve security around the facility while providing a more organised environment for sporting, community and youth activities.
The Effiakuma AstroTurf, located within the Police Park, was constructed through support from the GNPC Foundationand has become an important sporting facility for residents and young people in the area.
The facility has, however, previously experienced flooding challenges during periods of heavy rainfall.
The planned fencing forms part of a broader effort to improve community infrastructure and create a better environment for residents to access and use public facilities.
Lawyer Boamah Nyarko has previously used the Police Park as a venue for constituency programmes.
In October 2025, for instance, he organised an educational-support initiative for BECE graduates, providing assistance to students as part of his constituency-focused activities.
With work on the fencing expected to commence within two weeks, residents of Effia and users of the Police Park will be watching closely as the project gets underway.
