Abu Trica, a Ghanaian businessman and social media influencer was denied bail after appearing before the Gbese District Court in Accra on December 23, 2025, for his US extradition hearing in a $8 million romance case.
The presiding judge rejected the Swedru native’s bail application, as well as those of his two accomplices, who were accused with online fraud and taken into custody.
Abu Trica whose real name is Federick Kumi and sometimes Emmanuel Kojo Baah during his appearance arrived at the Gbese Court with high police presence which sparked a huge discussions online.
Trica was seen wearing all-black outfit with a matching mask fully covered on his face while being led by the security personnels.
His two co-accused persons namely; were captured in a footage obtained by Hellovybes on GHBrain social media platforms, being grabbed at the court premises for an interrogation.
However, the legal team including Abu Trica’s personal lawyer raised concerns regarding his two associates after urging that the indictment that was submitted by the US Department of Justice provided no evidence linking them to the case.
According to the lawyer despite not applying for the bail of Abu Trica during his extradition hearing, he requested the court to release the two guys on bail after finding out that their names have been omitted by the US authorities.
“For A1 (Abu Trica) whose name is returned on the indictment has not really chrysalides, that’s why we didn’t apply for bail him”
“But for A2 and A3, (Abu Trica’s friends) their names are not on the indictments that was returned by the US Department of Justice authorities that’s why we prey for bail but still” — the Lawyer concluded.
Meanwhile, Abu Trica is yet to face official charges, since the case was rescheduled until January 13, 2026, following his initial arrest on December 13 for defrauding elderly Americans.
