Black Stars have been presented with a FIFA World Cup plaque following their efforts to be among the top 32 teams competing for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

The World Cup tournament began on Sunday, November 20, when host nation Qatar was defeated by Ecuador by a score of 2 goals to nil, breaking an 88-year record in which no hosting country had ever lost its first game since 1934.

Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, the Netherlands, England, Iran, the United States, Wales, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland, France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia, Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia, Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon, Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea are among the 32 teams competing for one trophy at the 2022 World Cup.

Ener Valencia led Ecuador to a victory over Qatar at one of the largest stadiums in the world, Al Bayt despite months of preparation.

Meanwhile, before presenting the Black Stars with a World Cup plaque, FIFA officials met with all of the players’ team officials to go over the tournament’s rules and regulations.

The FIFA officials also entrusted a Plaque on the Black Stars players in recognition of their contribution and participation in the event.

The Black Stars will play Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 (Rass Abou Aboud)followed by South Korea and Uruguay on November 28th and 2nd of December, respectively.
