Multiple award-winning artist, Shatta Wale has criticised the Black Stars’ terrible performance in their opening game of AFCON 2023 against Cape Verde.
According to him, the GFA officials should rename the team ‘Black Soil’ due to their lack of commitment and underperformance over the years.
Shatta Wale stated that the players’ inability to excel is likely affecting the country’s reputation which has been built over many years.

Many people claim that the current Black Stars squad is not up to the standards of the previous team, and that despite their individual talents, a lack of teamwork and team spirit is the cause of their struggles.
Some are doubting the effectiveness of current head coach Chris Hughton considering the team’s abysmal performance.
The team has always been criticised, especially following the recent game against Cape Verde, which only made things worse.

Music icon Shatta Wale also joined the chorus of displeasure, declaring in a video the need to fully disband the team due to their long-term lack of form.
Shatta Wale’s video argues that the team’s name ‘Black Stars’ should be replaced with ‘Black Soil’, implying that the squad won’t provide significant results, unlike their prior performances in the tournament.
