Chris Hughton has been sacked as Ghana Black Stars coach following a disasterous AFCON campaign that saw the Black Stars eliminated at the group stage.
The Ghana Football Association made this announcement to have parted ways with the former Newcastle United manager on its website on Tuesday January 23, 2024.
The Association’s executive council also revealed to dissolve the technical team of Black Stars and communicated to the public that, soon a new board will be unveiled.
“The Ghana Football Association will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars,” the association noted.
Chris Hughton replaced then incumbent Otto Addo in February 2023 as head coach of Black Stars, Ghana National team.

Before his appointism, he was part of technical advisers before and coaching staffs for the Qatar World last in 2022 under Otto Addo.
Ghana’s Exit From Afcon 2023
Black Stars couldn’t make it to that AFCON 2023 that took through in neighboring Abidjan. They were knocked out of the group stage after some very gloomy performances in all three games.
The team had a draw (2-2) with Egypt followed by a shocked (2:1) defeat to Cape Verde hence meaning fans end hopes of ending the trophy drought that dates back 1982.

The knockout blow was dealt with a (2:2) draw against Mozambique thus shattering hopes in the ongoing competition.
After four successes in 23 appearances at the tournament dating back to 1963, Ghana’s Black Stars couldn’t triumph on this 34th edition of Afcon.
