Marie-Claire Rupio, the late Ghanaian player Christian Atsu’s wife, posted an Instagram photo of her son, Joshua Atsupie, holding a trophy.
Joshua plays for the Gosforth Football Club’s Under-9 team, which won the Pro Motiv8 Tournament final.
Marie-Claire, who was delighted with her son’s achievement, shared the joyous occasion on her Instagram stories.
Christian Atsu died in the deadly earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria. His one-week observation begins on March 4th.
Marie-Claire Rupio captioned the photo she posted, “will make his dad proud.”
Christian Atsu appeared in 65 matches for Ghana, scoring nine goals. Two of his most famous goals came against Egypt in a 2014 World Cup qualifier and against Guinea in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, where he scored an absolutely breathtaking goal.
