Ghanaian musician Mohammed Ismail Sherif, popularly known as Black Sherif is facing legal charges as woman, his landlady identified as Dr. Evelyn Esi Awittor, accused him over unpaid house rent.
According to court documents issued by Adenta District Court on January 25, Dr. Evelyn, the plaintiff, claims defendants Black Sherif and RBA Limited owe her GH¢229,500 after the rapper fails to settle his rent arrears linked to a residential property in which he occupies.
The woman pushing for Blacko’s eviction claims to have given him the house on a yearly basis, but the ‘Kweku the Traveller’ hitmaker hasn’t paid her since August 2024.
She claimed to have taken beyond as officially filing a complaint against Blacko after being unable to resolve the situation, which eventually led to court.
The complaint, filed at Adenta Court in Accra, also includes a Hearing Notice in which the court orders Black Sherif to pay GH¢229,500 in Ghana cedis until he vacates the premises.
Copies of the amended writs, summons, and particulars of the claim were posted on the court’s notice board as well as at the rented property where Black Sherif currently resides, located at Recreational Close in NHTC Estate, Adjiriganor, Accra.
The notice is part of the court’s efforts to ensure proper service after previous attempts to personally serve the defendant were failed, prompting the approval of substituted service.
The court also cautioned that if the musician fails to appear and react when the case is called, the proceedings may continue in his absence in accordance with Ghana’s civil procedure regulations.
Meanwhile, Black Sherif is yet to speak about his legal issues and the woman’s claim, as the case has been adjourned and will be heard on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
