Born in Durham North, Carolina, United States, Hudgins started his career journey in the US Senate as the Staff Assistant to Senator Al Gore, after graduating from St. Mark’s School and Duke University.

Upon completion of his law degree from SMU, Hudgins practiced trial law for 8 years in Dallas.

In 2001, after the heartbreaking death of his sister by breast cancer, had Hudgins a changing life. He left that law and shifting to the Tennessee hills to passionately dedicate his life to filmwriting.

However, after the sale of his debut feature screenplay Scottsboro, he moved to LA, where he embarked on a TV career.

From starting at the bottom as a Staff Writer on the WB show Everwood, Hudgins moved up through the ranks over the next three years to become a Co-Producer.

His travel had another stage on the NBC drama Friday Night Lights where he worked for three years as a writer and Co-Executive Producer.

In 2009, Hudgins developed and ran a TV series Past Life for Warner Brothers Television after that she went back to Friday Night Lights to work as a showrunner and Executive Producer for its last season.

He also ventured into Parenthood and served four seasons as writer and Executive Producer.

March 2014 saw Hudgins move his overall deal to Sony Pictures Television, where he now works on drama series ‘Game of Silence’ and adapts to The New York Times bestselling novel ‘Natchez Burning’ for cable, with Tobey Maguire set to producer and act in it.

Not only has Hudgins made a name for himself in the world of TV, but he has also received multiple Emmy and Writer’s Guild Award nominations, among others, Best Drama Series for Friday Night Lights.

He is a Peabody Award winner and President of a breast cancer charity called The Catherine H. Tuck Foundation, which he founded in 2012.
