On June 10, 2021, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and Coronel Aispuro negotiated a plea deal.
She pleaded guilty to a variety of charges, including conspiracy to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and amphetamines for illegal importation into the United States, conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, and engaging in transactions with properties linked to a designated significant foreign narcotics trafficker.

On November 30, 2021, Judge Rudolph Contreras sentenced Coronel to three years in prison, followed by four years of supervised release.
This sentence was later reduced to 31 months. Judge Contreras took into consideration that Coronel was a teenager when she married Guzmán and acknowledged her guilt upon capture.
